student reflections about the event:
the Sleepover taught me that...
where we are born is chance. I am so blessed to live in the United States and have the opportunities I have. I could be living in a refugee camp, right now, I could be running from the Syrian Government, I could be hungry, scared and cold, that could be me. It is so important not to take granted of anything and most importantly connect on a human to human level with the refugees.
life is so hard for refugees. They have so much work, and eat horrible food with no sense of security. We shouldn’t take for granted the choices we have and the sacrifices we don’t have to make.

· we are very lucky to be where we are today and even the simple things that we take for granted such as running water or heat, people rarely have over in refugee camps. We were put on this planet for a reason and we played the lottery of life very well by being born in the United States, but because of that we need to give back in every way that we possibly can. Every single thing that you do makes a difference one way or another, and we truly have the power to change the world.
my life is actually a whole lot easier than I thought and that there are people out there who have it much worse than me.
we have extreme privileges every day that we take for granted. Especially something like water, I thought before that water was just given and I had no idea they had to go get water every day.

· that not all people are as lucky as us. Refugees have it hard due to sickness, lack of food/water, and protection. And that’s all chance. It could have been any of us starving or dying.
· how fortunate we are and how great simple things like beds and good food really are.
· that most of the world doesn’t have the luxuries we take for granted. I think we need to be able to appreciate what we have, because some people don’t have anything. Having a Happy Meal when everyone else had rice and beans made me feel surprisingly guilty.

· what a refugee camp is like on a small scale. Also, it showed me how good I have life.
· The sleepover showed me how lucky we are even when we try to be at our worst.
· most of us don’t understand how bad the refugees have it. We’ve got all the modern luxuries we could want, they have nothing. The word needs to spread.

· not all life is fair or perfect. Not everyone has it as good or as worse as you
